Hi all, I'm new to the forum and in need of some help.

I have a '93 300ZX Twin Turbo T-Top 2+2 which sustained some damage while living with the previous owner specifically to the rhs door.

I know of a car being stripped for spares, but it is a 2 seater and not the 4 seater like mine. Can anyone tell me if the door dimensions of the short and long wheelbase are the same and would the door fit on my car.

Dont quote me on this... but I do believe the doors are the same size. Nissan likes to make allot of our z parts universal so they dont have to manufacture the same part in different sizes

2+2 and 2+0 have different length doors.

Things that are different on a 2+2:
Doors + windows, T-Tops, Quarter panels, Quarter windows, Interior (Center console w\ armrest and back if I'm correct), hatch, exhaust (Axle back?), Subframe, gas tank, drive shaft, rear bumper.

Things that are the same on a 2+2:
99% from the firewall forwards (Except front sway bar, 2+2 is the thickest front sway bar)

^Exactly, Corey is spot on. The door panels are the same though.

i always thought it was from the door pilar back that was different as far as outside of the car was. so everything from the edge of the door forward was the same. but IDK . everything i know about the Z32 i got off the interwebz

Thanks for everyone's help, but it seems that everyone is not agreeing here. From what I could gather from the net was that everything from the b-pillar forward except for the T-Tops are the same, which would mean the doors are the same.
Please can someone confirm.

^ This post is correct. I am confirming it.. Jake, if you buy a door for a 2+0 and try to put it on to your 2+2 it will not work the door skin is longer on a 2+2.

Try it, I dare you. :) Come back here and let us know how it goes - then wait for me to say, "I told you so." :gapteeth:

just to stir the pot, (mark ;) )

some one please measure their door with a tape measure in a 2+0 and a 2+2 . and compare results. id just like to see the tape measure on the door in the pic. :ohno: :naughty:

im not about to go search Z sites for doors but i would like to know. i always thought the diference between the 2+0 and the 2+2 started after the edge of the door back and or the edge of the front seats back wards.

Thanks again for all the help.

@ 300ZXttZMan - My confusion came in as I misunderstood your previous post. I mixed up door panel with door skin. I won't make the mistake so that you can say 'I told you so'. That's why I asked.

@ Rager - That's a brilliant idea.

So if anyone out there has easy access to both, please measure both doors and post pics if possible.

Plans for my Z:
First of all it needs a color change as I'm not particularly fond of white. The car must stand out and there are very few around in South Africa.
It has already been chipped, so the power is ok for now. For a 20 year old car that makes almost the same power as a new 370Z it's not bad. Long term I would like to take the power to +600bhp. I don't want to make it completely undrivable in the street, but will probably be used for drifting.

:rotfl So I just measured some of my parts Z's and the problem is that the Z has so many curves there is really no place to measure the door. (if I had a helping hand I could do it but I don't)

Anyway from what I came up with the difference is about a 1/2".

But I did get a picture. I looked up the door in our computer system for our full service salvage yard and guess what?!?! They are different. If the doors were the same or even useable it wouldn't ask if it was a 2 seater or 4 seater.

i still think the doors are the same lol  a half inch very minimal, that sounds like an error of the tape measure opperator :chuckle:

well i know your inventory program asks if its for a 2+0 or a 2+2, but id bet it asks that for every part of a Z32. not that know at all but im just guessing. id say this is still up for debate. there need to be a mesurement from both cars, from the same location. wheres ACE he owned both :ohno:

cuz as far as im concerned if the door "are the same in both" then technically the TTOPS should be same cuz they end at the corner of the door. but for now lets just focus on the doors ................. and thats where the extra 11 inches starts from.

thats what she said :chuckle: sorry i had to

how about this, anyone got part numbers for both the 2+2 and the 2+0? :inoutgay:

I do know that the ttops Are different sizes because a guy tried to buy them from me but returned them because the 2+0 & 2+2 are off on size. So bringing that into play. Im agreeing with the argument that the doors are not the same size... (im allowed to change my answer right?)

Schite's different. 2+2 door is noticeably longer. Different contours as well. Different curve of the door glass at the top (2+2 has a shallower curve.) Basically everything outside the car from the A pillar back is different. Except for the wiper arm, antenna, and tail lights. Cause those are the same.

And yes, the T tops are different as well. Different curvature. Same dimensions measured in vectors, but the curves make it not work.

@ Ace - Thank you very much for giving us the definitive answers. Much appreciated.

@ Rager - So it seems the tape measure operator knows what he is doing :naughty:

@ zswap - So no need to change your answer then.

:squint: Thats the thing... If I had someone to help hold the tape and make sure its straight it would have been more accurate.

Like Aaron said, the curves of the door are completely different so the door might actually measure the same in some spots but in others be much longer.

I was the only one who even tried to measure so no one can complain (cough andrew) if you want to complain call your congress man. :rotfl

i know this from experience, i bought a new door for my Z a few weeks ago and it was for a 2+2. when i got home i put it on and the window pillar over laps the Ttops by about a 1/2 inch. i made that mistake once, now i gotta go find another door lol. so yes they are different.
