Can anybody tell me what the Z32 MAFS is useful for? And more importantly, will it make a difference on a mostly stock SR? Stock bottom end, cylinder head and turbo. My friend has one from his Z32NA sitting in his backyard from when he wrecked his car, and I'm trying to take it off his hands.

TIA.

It can meter more air than the stock unit, which is comparable to a SOHC KA MAFs.

OK, but would it be needed with a stock turbo running say 14 or 15 pounds of boost? Would it make any difference, or not until I get a bigger turbo?

Not till you get bigger.

Z32 MAF is common upgrade in Japan and Australia...usually done at the same time of injectors (to get proper tuning). A programmed ECU can use the Z32 MAF with no problem.

I just asked Sam at Jspec.com about that and he said in order to need the z32 maf you'll need a bigger turbo and ecu upgrade. CAN NOT/SHOULD NOT use it on stock sr setup with stock turbo.

You just shouldn't use it with a stock ECU. : ) It won't meter properly, you need a way to account for it either an ECU upgrade or something like a s-afc.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm still going to try and take it off his hands and horde it somewhere, those beasts are expensive.

when i run 16psi on the stock SR mafs at about 5500-6000rpm on a hard pull the mafs is at over 90%.....if you ask me upgrading the mafs is worth it even with the stock turbo.

What turbo do you have? The T25 should be past it's efficiency range at 16 psi. When I get bigger injectors, a bigger turbo, and standalone, I'll install the Z32 MAFS.

ok.....and whats efficiency mean? it doesnt mean its not faster at 16psi than 14psi.... : ), it might be less efficient, and lessen lifespan of the T-too-small turbo....but yea, whats your point? : )

hehe, I have been owned. I guess I just assumed that no one who didn't want to blow the hair dryer apart wouldn't run it past 14 or 15 PSI; I was wrong.:)

eh, if my t-too-small goes, its all the more reason to get a new turbo : )

I am currently using a RB20DE Airflowmeter on the stock turbo setup in my car. I recommend that you upgrade the airflowmeter in any case. Especially if you turn the boost up. You can use an Apexi Super AFC to make it work with your car, Power FC works well also. The RB20DE made a big difference. So I recommend the VG30 airflowmeter because it flows more air. :ylsuper

The setting for the Z32 MAF is 2 In 6 Out. Good luck should fire right up. Putting my HKS Hyper Max 2 in this weekend (Time permitting) Fully adjustable suspension.
