The Z32 MAF has a larger diameter, and is designed to flow more air(IIRC). It is most commonly used on Maxima's and I's when adding forced induction to the VQ.

Actually, the diameter should be the same. The way the sensor reads the air is different. Basically, for any given voltage output from the MAF the there is more air flowing through the Z32 MAF than the Maxima's. Say at 2 volts the Maxima MAF reads enough air for 200 hp but the Z32 reads enough for 300 hp (not real numbers, just random to show how it works). I'm 99% sure that's the difference.

But yeah, as mentioned above, most boosted VQ guys use the Z32 MAF once they are making more power than the stock MAF can read (too much air flow). Actually, many other Nissan guys use the Z32 MAF when their stock sensor is exceeded. Some also use a Ford Cobra MAF as I believe it reads even more than the Z32. JWT is one of the big ones that I know use the Cobra setup for their customers.
