just wanted a specific question answered, if anybody has one.I bought my s13 with a sohc maf in the car. The car was having problems under full throttle at about 5 lbs of boost, the car would break up and backfire alot. I was told by the shop, ILLGarage that it was most likely a bad maf and to upgrade to a z32.

So i got a z32 maf. installed it. now the car doesnt even idle propery. it runs super rough and SUPER RICH. anywhere from 7.5 to 12 on my wideband. im wondering what i need to do to get this car running?

Do i just need to tune with the safc2 to set maf voltage and afr or did i uncover more issues?

thanks in advance!

you can run a z32 maf off of your safcII...just dont apply correction factor during set up so no fuel is added or taken away....go to APEXi USA and download the 2 manuals....i believe your in-out settings are 6in-4out but I am not 100% sure.

I think that is right six and four i can double check to be sure. If this didn't already solve your problem.

2 in 6 out or 2 in 5 out

6 or 5 depending if you have s13 or s14 &s15 ecuif you have a s13 it's a 6 outs14 or s15 it's a 5 out

Basically, your telling the SAFC that you have HW2 (z32) Maf coming in but you're changing out put to ecu HW5 or HW6 so your ECU can undestand the input. Now if your SAFC was already tuned before, then you will definately need it re-tune since afl are now totally different.

i think i set mine to 2in 5 out. ill change it and see if nething changes. under any throttle amount if i exceed 4-5 lbs of boost the engine breaks up and backfires. still puzzles me so for now it sits until i can get it dyno tuned at ams!

Have you had your car tuned before with that SAFC? If you are not using the second file, switch to the second file. And if you are just using SAFC II for Z32 and nothing else for now, then make sure you have 2 In 6 Out under Sens. No. And 1 In1 Out under Sens. Cal. I would zero everything else in air correction factor setting in Both Hi and Lo -Thrtl. That should get you running as if you were running a stock S13 MAF with nothing else.
