You dip ****.

I just searched Z32 MAF and there's two pages of threads.

Don't lie to us, and don't post stupid threads.

alright... alright... let's retract the claws ladies.

I have also done that same search recently and there are a lot of threads, but nothing with pertinent info about why you need it, what the limits are, etc...

I am a newb.. but here is what I have read. The RB MAF is only good to a certain HP range... I think like 280hp. After that you have to either upgrade (Z32 or Q45) or get something to trick it (SAFC2) or something like that. So if you want a high HP RB engine you need to do something about the MAF.

Can anyone back this up? JonPowell...?

I also would like to know for sure... this is just what I think. I picked up a Q45 90MM MAF, and am wondering if I definitely needed it or not. If it turns out I don't need it.. I would sell it because I could use the money right now.

Ok, the Z32 reads more airflow at the same voltage...I dont know perticulars but I am gonna use made up numbers to explain...

R33 MAF- say 50CFM=1.5V Z32- say 50CFM=0.7VR33 MAF-say 300CFM=5.0V Z32- say 450CFM=5.0V

That is how it works....higher airflow at the same 5.0V doesnt necessarily mean more power, but it support the airflow required for more airflow.

Now on to the SAFC....My buddy Pete described it best...if there were an SAFC for people you would be at a bar hitting on a chick that you think is hotter than Milla Jovovich when in reality she has one tooth and 4 hairs...

The SAFC is a liar and fools your ECU. I hate that little piece of junk....just my opinion though and you know what they say about opinion.....they are just like butt holes, everyone has one and they all stink.

This is also not the only forum on the internet. If you search the skyline australian forums you'll find ALOT more info.

A MAF does not GIVE you power. Nor will your stock ECU willingly accept the range of a bigger MAF designed for a different engine. There's a bit more to it.

I suggest you keep searching, or kindly click on the 'Log Out' and never return. Biatch.

Sr's have ****ty small MAF's, we don't, ours are identical to Z32's minus the votages. RB maf's are good for about 300hp, z32's about 550.

I use a z32

Now grow up and quit being so ignorant to those who have knowledge. If you ***** and cry nobody will help you.

Nameless... you are so hostile today! Mean as Hell... but funny!

I was wondering how long before GoofyNick showed up... I thougth I remembered that you were using a Z32. Can you answer my question also... Is the Q45 MAF too big? Does it loose sensitivity if you are only working it at say 40% of capacity rather than being at 70 - 90% like most?

The above is correct.. and needed to be pointed out.. The MAF does not give you power.. it is a limiter. The stock MAF will only allow the engine to read enough air intake to support like 300HP. Upgrading your MAF will simply raise the limit to how much HP you can run. The Z32 is supposed to be good for like 550hp or something like that... So it will continue to send signals to the engine to allow for higher fuel amounts to get you the power you need.

Now I am done sounding like I know what I am talking about.. cause I am really just a moron... who loves cars.

Here's a fantastic thread I found that talks a lot about MAF's in RB engines...http://www.skylinesdownunder.c...ber=1

Cheers as they say

Ok, Hitler, sorry to hijack your thread, but it pretty much sucks right now compared to the older threads on the same topic that you did not read.

So.... has anyone ever been brave enough to try to hack the RB MAF? It is identical to the Z32 MAF except for the electronics, which are probably nothing more than a wheatstone bridge, a constant current source, and a buffer. There could even be a trim resistor in there somewhere that could be tweaked.

If it can be tuned, there is the possibility of hooking a hacked RB MAF up in series with a Z32 MAF on a variable speed vacuum cleaner (like a Miele) to calibrate it. Or it could be done on the car.

from the look of the filament in the RB maf, it should be hackable.

Q45 isn't too big, my buddy actually maxxed his out on his built SR with a T66..haha.

But, unless you're planning on being over 500hp, I wouldn't really worry about it, unless you're running a T04S compressor housing with a 4" inlet, I'd run it to have less intake restriction.

The Q45 throttlebody is another story; it's pretty big and you'll lose throttle response and it won't be quite as smooth.

I got my Z32 maf for $60 shipped so I wasn't worried about hacking the RB maf.

PS- NA and TT Z32 maf's are identical, so are J30 infiniti maf's.

You've proven my point. You're an idiot. Although you are far more sophisticated than the average idiot... you did search, just not thoroughly.

Oh I'm sorry, that was negative.

"The answer to your question will be dispensed in the order received". How's that? Should there be automated responses for **** like this?

Did you come here expecting people to **** you out a bunch of information at the snap of your fingers? You just post a thread and everyone is waiting patiently to respond to questions?

Here are some other forums for you to search, if you so please:

240sxforums.comzilvia.netskylinesaustralia.comskylinesdownunder.comgoogle.com

If you're a true enthusiast, then start acting like one. Info is not free, it is given respectively (most of the time) to people who truly appreciate the concept of online information contribution. It is not just for "helping people" whenever someone has a question. There is more than just answers here.

Next time, don't lie to us. Don't assume that your question will be answered if it's been discussed before, and don't insult us if you can't justify yourself.

Stick around web forums for a long time and you'll begin to understand things.

That was the most lame attempt of an ego attack I've ever seen.

But you're right, I'm not a groupie. I don't need to be at age 21, with a full time job living on my own.

Try again.

Not sure about the 25, but the 26 is at it's limits on the stock MAF at 400-450 hp. Also changing the MAF you will need some sort of ECU hack, PiggyBack, or Standalone for the car to run correctly. Or if you have a standalone that runs MAP, you can do away with all of it completely and change ITBs to a single Q45 TB. I'm working on that route myself.
