Well after a few issues to overcome, I finally made it out to Secret Services to have my car dyno tuned after installing a Z32 MAF meter and adding a S-AFC II. After all of the previous posts of questions of tuning a Z32 MAF, Scott at Secret Services actually proved to me firsthand that the car NEEDED a tune for the Z32 MAF. The boost was peaking at around 1.1 bar (15 psi) and dropping off to about .8 bar (11 psi). We could have gotten more TQ with higher boost levels, but we decided that would not have been a safe level for the longevity of the turbo. A previous (overzealous) boost setting displayed 266 TQ, but we ended the run short to back off the boost setting a bit.

Making a long story short, my car runs smoother and stronger in all RPM ranges. We noticed that we had to add in 23%+ fuel in low-mid range RPM!! We had actually smoothed out the A/F curve out a bit more once we got it off the dyno.

I had the tuning by Scott @ Secret Services in St. Pete, FL.

Mods: SR20DET, Stock T25 Turbo, Blitz FMIC, Apexi GT-Spec Exhaust, CATCO catalytic converter, Greddy Downpipe.

Guess I missed your old posts, but are you saying that you needed an ECU reflash and that the SAFC wasn't cutting it? Or did Scott tune your SAFC? Sorry, I'm a bit confused as to what conclusions you actually made and what was happening previously.

i have the z32 but when I connected the Z32 mafs, with my stock (SR mafs) setting (you know, the wiring for the SR mafs), it doesn't work. I'm wondering how did you or happen to know how they connected the SAFCII to the ecu to make the Z32 mafs works?

AznRide - you need to do 2 things to make sure your Z32 MAF will work. 1-make sure that the wiring on the Z32 is correct. When looking at the Z32 MAf, you will have 6 spaces (A,B,C,D,E,F) 4 of which you use (B,C,D,E). B should be connected to your white wire, C should be connected to a chassis ground, D is connected to your black wire, and E goes to Black/White wire. Once you have it wired correctly, your Car Select setting on the S-AFC should be set to 2IN 6OUT.

This should get you running. If not, goto your Sensor Check Screen and check to make sure you see a voltage for your MAF.

Dori Dori - I made the conclusion that plugging in the Z32 MAF and boosting the motor can POSSIBLY cause damage if you do not have it tuned. I have read much debate as to whether Z32 needs dyno tuning, and I have found that if I had not tuned the motor on the dyno (by using the S-AFC) I would have been as much as 23% lean in some mid-range areas. I was really impressed on how quickly Scott had seen this and cleared it right up.

drumma, when i checked my SAFCII, the only option i have in the car select is the cylinder and the throttle, up or down or normal...can you help? My SAFCII is set right now that my stock SR Mafs works. Do I have to re do the wirings by the ecu from the SAFCII?

Couldn't Scott just reflash the ecu though (omit the safcII)?

He could have re-flashed the ECU, however I already had the S-AFC II in the car, and it was much less time on the dyno and cheaper as well just to S-AFC tune. I had asked Scott about a ROM tune, and since I already had the S-AFC installed, he opted to tune it that way.

OK, I understand now, thanks.

What does he usually charge to tune an safc?

$125 for SAFC tune, and he was done in about an hour and a half or so, depending on how backed up he is. In my case, we did about 8-9 dyno pulls and were done.
