i'm trying to fix my brake leak and i think i narrowed it down to the master cylinder leaking, so if i get a new m.c. i was wondering if i could get a z32's master cylinder to go with my stock brakes. i know people get this sometimes after get z32 brakes, and i plan to upgrade my brakes eventually but i need a new m.c. now so could i use one from a 300zx? are there any downs to useing one with stock brakes? could i get one from any z32? thanks.

I wouldn't use a Z MC with stock brakes because the Z MC is designed to pump less pressure to the calipers. By using it with stock S13 brakes, you'll need more pedal effort to stop the car as the MC can't pump enough pressure to the stock caliper pistons.

wait why does the z32 one pump less pressure? why do ppl change the stock one for the z32 one then when they do the brake conversion?

Since the Z32 calipers brake with more force and less fade, when you use the stock 240 MC the brakes can be really 'touchy' and allow for little movement from no brakes to full brakes.... therefore if you install the Z32 MC you get more movement in the pedal, removing the 'touchiness'..... Hope this helps!

Ya, I would think the Z32 m/c flows more fluid to help clamp those extra 6 pistons.

the easiest way to understand why the cylinder pushes less pressure is this. The bore is larger, so you have less concentration. With the cencentration of the fluid lessened, the pressure is decreased. Kind of like when you put your thumb over the end of a garden hose.

If you look at the brakes. You have 6 more pistons up front that bneed to be compressed. Since hydrollic fluid doesn't comrpess, you're exerting the same amount of pressure to all the pistons. So when you keep the stock S13 MC on the Z brakes, you have more pressure on 6 more pistons.

So the Z MC flows less to reduce pressure to the pistons. If you place that MC on stock S13 brakes, they won't clamp down enough.
