So far no one has been able to help me (including my local nissan dealership which charged me $100 to tell me what I allready know and tell me they can't fix the problem).

I have a 90 z32 n/a 5spd. throwing code 21. I performed diagnostic procedure 27 and narrowed the problem down to there being no power at the coilpacks. there is signal and ground, but no power. checked the ignition relay and there is power at the relay and there is continuity from the relay to the coil packs. so I guess I need help figuring out what each terminal on the relay is supposed to be and where each wire goes as at this point the only thing I think it could be is a short in the wiring. any input/help is appreciated

you got ground, signal, and no power? so you can run a power wire to it and all is well right? if there is 12v coming out of the relay and not going into the coils(assuming its a straight shot from relay to coil) then you need to do a voltage drop test. i dont have a wiring diagram to refer to right now but could you verify for me that the car will run if you just run jumper wires from power to coils?

yeah it runs just fine if I jumper the relay to give the coils constant power, but doing so (drove it around like that for about a week) burned out my ptu, so I can't keep doin that, need to really fix the problem.

Thanx

ah hah. so you had to jump the relay terminals? that means to switch side of the relay is good and the coil side is your problem. check to see if the coil side is losing power or ground. i am not sure but i want to say the power side prob comes from the ign switch and the ground is prob a simple chassis ground. that may be wrong though. it may be a switched ground that is controlled by the ecm.
