A few questions:

1. Are the brake calipers rebuilt or do they need any rebuilding? If the brake calipers have been rebuilt, continue to question 2. If the brake calipers need to be rebuilt have them rebuilt. At this point I am sure they brake calipers have been rebuilt other wise you would not have installed them.

2. Did you bleed the front brakes as well? (If yes, continue to question 2a. If no bleed the front brakes starting with the brake furthest away from the brake master cylinder.

2A. If you bleed the front brakes. What sequence did you bleed the brakes in? (IE. Back Right, Back Left, Front Right, Front Left) If any other order, you may still have air in the system.

All calipers are rebuiltI started from the farthest and worked my way in, i started with the back left(longest line in brake system)to rear right, and then left to right in the front.( front lines are seperate)Im just going to give it time to settle, and maybe bleed it again.

I think i got it, we got fluid coming out of each caliper, we just got back from round 2, and usually you do 4 or 3 pumps, but we just pumped the **** out of it, and the fronts locked up, so were doing round 3 in the morning. and hopefully ill be able to drive it to work. thanks for your help though.

You are welcome.

The last time I did bleed brakes I pumped until I felt pressure on the pedal and the opened the bleeder valve.

just make sure you flip flop the calipers meaning the bleeder valve on top.

When i bleed brakes, i usually gravity bleed them first. That means opening each bleeder one at a time letting gravity push the fluid through. When it starts dripping move on to the next one. I guess your past this point but good to know anyway.

Alright well we went back out to the garage to do one final bleed and they were worse! I think i might have a bad cylinder but its brand new(the brake fluid was dirty when we bled it though), any other ideas!?

I was having the same problem when i put on the z32 calipers, except I had a bad z32 bmc and all i got was air at the front passanger caliper, put on the 240sx BMC and then i found out I had stripped the driver brake line when I installed it running on a 240sx rubber line, I know I must change this ASAP anyways, when pumping it was leaking at the line and I couldn't completly bleed the fronts. So check all your lines and make sure they have a tight fitting. Side note: I need a z32 bmc for better brake feeling! and i seem to be hearing a on and off squeeking coming from the rear. anyone?

1. Check all your fittings to make sure they are tight.

2. Top off the master cylinder.

3. Make sure each caliper is on the correct side. The BLEER must point UP!You can bleed them for 5 years and will get a ton of fluid out of them, but if the bleeders are pointing down you will never get a pedal because you will never get the air out of them.

4. Bench bleed the master before bleeding the calipers. Make sure the front of the master is pointing down. This will allow air to travel back twords the outlets on the master. This remoces all the air out of the master.

5. Hook up your steel lines.

6. Start at the right rear. Pump the pedal 3-4 time to build pressure, hold it to the floor and release the bleeder. From now on all you need is 1 push to the floor and hold while opening the bleeder. No need to "Pump it up".

6. Then do Left Rear, Right Front, Left Front. After about 4-5 bleeds at each wheel make sure you check the master. Don't let it run out of fluid.

You should have a rock hard pedal. If not check your hoses to make sure you have no leaks or buldges in the rubber.

If your still having trouble try putting a vice grip on 2 of the lines to see if you have pressue.

It sounds to me like you have air in the system due to the master running dry or the caliper bleeders are pointing down.

If all else fails replace the Master.

Good Luck.

you never want to put vise grips on a brake line. that can cause internal damge of the line leading to brake failure.

I had spongey brakes when I first got my 240, I replaced the rear calipers because of busted seals. I bled the lines of all the old yellow fluid until I was only getting clear fluid, then moved around the car bleeding until I saw clear fluid. I did another bleed all around just to make sure. It made a huge difference.

When I put on the 300zx calipers and stainless steel lines I done another bleed twice around the car. I still need a 300zx master cylinder and another round of bleeding.

Check your lines for leaks, my mom had a 95 escort that the rear lines rusted completely through. Three pumps and it was out of fluid and you had to work the hand brake.
