This is for anyone with Z32's or knowledge of them....

So here I am I getting my calipers ready for paint. I pull out the pins to release the old used pads, and take all the hardware out. But only 3/4 shim hardware pieces are there....here are some pics...

Now I have found that this hardware keeps the pads aligned against the rotor so when you apply the brake the pads glide smoothly against the rotor instead of hitting them. It also keeps the pads from clanking against the rotor when the brake is not applied.

Nissan has discontinued this part, and I have been all around to try to find this one stupid piece of metal with no luck. Is it absolutely necessary to use this hardware? I have had people tell me it is and isn't. I need more insight...Help asap so I can put my brakes on...Thanks!!

You should still be able to get those parts. Give Mike a call at Midway Parts team or the guys at Pinnacle a call. I think Mike sent me a front brake hardware kit for the z32 before that I didn't need so he might still have it in stock. Ha ha ha.
