I'm a newbie. I've owned a '78 Z, 79, & 83 ZX in the past. I can't stand it anymore - I've got to get another Z. I've been looking hard at the Z32s and see there are many for sell with quite a few mods. The mods sound like fun, but although I am quite handy at basic tasks - I'm not a mechanic. So it is a little scary buying a car that is heavily modified - although it would be fun. The '83 ZX I owned was a turbo with an aftermarket cooler for the turbo. It was a lot fun and I didn't have to touch it (b4 is was completely totalled in a Texas hail storm '99).Anyway, one of the Zs I'm looking at has alot of mods. I'm wondering how much attention all of those things will demand.Would you mind looking at this cars mods and tell me what you think?

Thanks for your time.

Those are all just basic mods and seem to be quality parts.

As long as it was all done right, I'd trust a modded Z32 as much as a stock one anyday.

I appreciate your time and expertise.I guess the next stept is to drive up there and take a look at it.Also, I probably should figure out what kind of mechanic to take it to for evaluation - it's in Mc Clave, Colorado zipcode 81057.Do you know how I would locate an appropriate mechanic to look over the car? Thanks again.

welcome to NICO!!!

I bought my Q45 heavily modified, and sometimes you can get lucky if the person did it right, and other times youll just see a bunch of shortcuts that were taken... Anytime you buy a modified car, especially ones with goofy one-off deals (like mine) expect to change things... BUt if its just bolt on stuff (pulleys, exhaust, intake, etc) then you should be fine...

IN MY OPINION anytime you buy a modified car or MODIFY a CAR, it is the owners responsibility to figure out whats going on and to know how to fix it... I dont understand how certain "check book tuners" can go in and do all this stuff to their car (obviously by paying someone to do it) and have no idea whats actually being done!!!

If the owner sounds like he knows what hes talking about, then your probably OK.. If hes very iffy about very detail oriented things, he either doesnt know what hes doing or didnt do it...

I currently have a 91 TT and a 71 with the 83 turbo motor plus lots of mods, the big difference is the V6 engine is a much tighter fit in the engine bay so everything is more difficult to do and the V6 uses a timing belt which need to be changed every 60 and the tensioners and idlers also have to be replaced every 120k or so, other than the timing belt the vg's are as trouble free as the L6
