so my 1991 300zx twin turbo has been sitting for the winter. it say for about a month or 2 and i had to pull her back out because i blew up my miata. it was all fine besides the battery being dead until it wouldn’t start out of nowhere. a single click was all that could be heard. i checked out the relay by the drivers fenders, and checked that it was the starter clicking. i tried tapping the starter no luck so i went out and bought a new starter. after hopping under i noticed a ground that was unhooked. it looked like the bolt snapped off or something and the ground wire just fell though. this was right next to the starter and this ground led up to the battery terminals. i tried grounding it and as soon as i tried rehooking the batter it shorted like crazy. i’ve tried multiple different ground and no luck. i can not figure out the solution and i don’t know what to do. my z32 is stuck and i have no car. i had the battery tested as well. they said it was good but was on its last life. i didn’t install the new starter i want to find this issue first so that if this solves it i can take back the starter. please send any ideas as i have no car and need help as soon as possible.

The stock ground battery cable bolts first tot he firewall right above the battery then down to a transmissions mounting bolt, or a starter mounting bolt.

The positive cables leads to the power lug on the starter, there is a smaller wire that leads from the battery clamp to the fusible link box near the battery.

Hope this helps

The fsm in the "everything you need to know...Z32" sticky has the diagrams and possibly some tests for you as well, it can be your best friend in times like these.
