Hey, I just got the ebrake cable from the junkyard for my car..I got it from a 90 300zx NA. The problem is...I didnt get the whole ebrake cable or the drum brake on the splash guard or wutever. I had to cut them with a wire cutter all the way back near where the splashguard was, so i got the whole cable minus the actual drum brake itself which is the last couple inches of the line in the rear....wtf did I do?!?!?!?!did i do this right for F&R 300zx brakes?

i fawked up huh? is there anyway to reuse the cable, or do i have to get another one?? the reason why it was cut was because the person working at the junkyard used a welder to cut the LCA and the frame up so i could get to the hubs cuz we didnt have a 36mm socket... so i had to cut the cable at the drum brake and now its screwed i think.

The way I hooked mine up I used the entire zx ebrake assembly with full cables. I tossed the 240 cables all together. However, I know some have spliced cables. Even then you are probably going to need 8" or so of cable coming out of the backing plate.

I cut from the backing plate on the rear rotors all the way up to the ebrake from the 300zx, so i have the whole thing except the drum brakes and the last couple inches of the cables...i think i ****ed it up tho...o well.. how much is a new one OEM?

A lot.

You may want to consider jb welding it back together. If you still have a few inches of cable coming from the e-brake, you could probably just splice the wires near the drum using whatever length you still have from the cable.

How did you manage this? One of my zx cables was way too short to reach the 240sx cable mounting plate. So they had to be spliced. Maybe i should have given it more slack from the adjustment knob... but whatever.

I am not real sure. My brother helped with the work under the car, but I let the adjustment most of the way out. I removed all the original ebrake cables and ran the zx cables through the hole in the subframe that the rubber grommets fit in. I had to drill new holes for the bracket of the outer sheathing (sp?) and put bolts/nuts through the driveshaft tunnel (they came up under the rear seat). I also drilled a hole for the locator pin. I will say that if you use the ebrake for drifting or other driving applications than just parking you will probably want to cut a piece of metal to back the tunnel with as it flexes when I set the ebrake. Other than that is just hooked the little "footballs" up to the stock place under the car. Hopes this helps, if you need pics I might be able to get some in a few days when the car is in the air for center bearing bracket repair.

Yeah.. I see what you're saying. I also routed the cables through the subframe.

I was pressed on time, so I didn't get to finish the e-brake swap, but the cables are there, connected to the stock cables. Some day I'll go back and try to fix it again. If I have any problems finishing it, I'll know who to come to ;)
