After hitting the sexy red search button and coming up with nothing but "clearance" issues with the z32 caliper upgrades, I decided to ask myself.

I was looking to purchase some brembo drilled rotors made for the 240.. however I'm looking to upgrade to a z32 caliper/brembo rotor combo. My question is.. would the z32 caliper fit the stock 240sx rotor? (I'm assuming the brembo's are the same size as the stock rotors?.. just drilled)

I intend to put brembo's on all 4 corners, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to perform the rear caliper swap (after reading the guide.. it seems complex as hell.. and I really don't have the techincal know-how.)

Your thoughts on this?

(Sorry if it seems as if its a beaten down question.)

You HAVE to get 300Z rotors, or else it would be pointless of doing the caliper upgrade just for the caliper to grab a crappy 10" rotor. The caliper will fit with the stock 240 10" rotor but it wont make use of the whole rotor surface when braking since the rotor would be too small.

I just picked up a set of Q45 calipers and I test fitted them on the hub and stock rotor, You can clearly see the size diffrence one you have it on and the need for bigger rotors.

The swap is actually very, very simple (front). If you were to get hung up, there are dozens of people here that could talk you through it.

Thanks guys, I was thinking about the 300z rotors, but I didn't want to redrill mine/ do a 5 lug conversion. I guess I have no other choice now huh?

No. The stock 240 rotors are too thin. I believe they are about 18 mm thick as opposed to 26mm or 30 mm depending on which Z32 brake. It would be very dangerous to run sucha thin rotor as the pistons may pop out of the caliper and you'ld essentially end up with absolutely no braking ability. Not to mention, one of the biggest reasons for the upgrade is the extra mass of the Z32 rotors and it's ability to absorb and dissapate more heat.

You think it would be worth while to do the 5 lug conversion at the same time?

Has anyone come out with a kit for the e-brake cable with the rear Z32 swap? You probably don't want to be without an e-brake, and you don't want a set-up that isn't safe. Nothing worse than finding your ride 100 yards down hill from where you parked it. ;)

Depends. If you have no intention of buying new wheels, then I'd say no. It's an extra expense that you don't absolutely need.

good call. I'll hold off on that. I REALLY want to do the z32 conversion soon though. I'll wait until I pull up enough capital to do it at once.
