This is a very broad question. First off, there are two types of aluminum calipers: 26mm caliper (from 1990 n/a z only) and the 30mm aluminum caliper. The 26mm caliper has the same exterior deminsions as the 30mm, however it uses a 280mmx 26mm rotor, while the 30mm aluminum caliper uses a 300mmx30mm rotor. Using the larger rotor will increase rotating mass and unsprung weight. The iron calipers use the same 300mmx30mm rotor, however the calipers are much heavier than their aluminum counterparts, further increasing unspring weight. The benefit to being iron over aluminum however, is they have a greater resistance to warping. This isnt really an issue with the Z brakes on S chassis cars because of the weight of hte vehicle. With a 3400lb high hp 300zx, the aluminums may warp under very hard driving, however with 7oolbs less weight in the S chassis, this isnt a worry. Also, the 26mm calipers are the only of hte 3 that will clear factory 7 spoke alloy wheels.
