I bought a pair of used 26mm calipers and before I install them I'm rebuilding them. I took the pistons out to check their condition. Four of them are perfect, the other four have some scaling on them. No nicks or burrs, just scaling.

I tried buffing it out, but it still has the outline if the scale stuff. Is this a major problem? I'm worried that if I replace the seals and leave this stuff on the pistons it will wear the new seals out and start to leak.

I got a price for new pistons and they are $24 a piece, that gets a little pricey if I gotta replace four.

Any experienced caliper rebuilders out there?

One more thing; What rotors should I get? I wanted brembo, but apparently they don't make anything for the 26mm. I'm leaning towards the stockers.

Thanks guys!

26mm rotors are pretty tough to find. I know PDM carries them, but the price is a little steep.http://www.pdm-racing.com/prod....html

Like you said, Ive never seen 26mm Brembo rotors...

A fine emory board should be able to take that out. If you can grab the scaling/light surface scratches with your fingernail you'll have problems. If you can't however and the scaling is towards the back of the piston, you shouldn't have an problems.

I am doing this with my Z32 rears right now and there is some scaling/light surface scratches but I can't get ahold of them with my fingers and there were no signs of leaking before hand so I'm leaving them alone.
