just wanted to get some insight to z32 brakes with ABS

my s13 has ABS and i am considering getting a set of z32 fronts. what i am worried about is if this will mess up my abs system or anything else. i dont care that much about whether the abs works or not, but i dont want it kicking in when it shouldnt either

i have googled this a fair amount and have tried my best to search on here. so far i dont THINK it should be a problem, but i have also seen some things that say otherwise:

"In short the ABS system on your S13/S14 will no longer properly work. During the design process of any vehicle equipped with ABS the ABS controller is programmed with stock hardware limits such as the maximum deceleration, stock wheels, stock brake system (thermal capacity, rotor size, braking split, the engineers even factor in such variables as line expansion.) The ABS controller expects the physics of the vehicle to remain constant, as in it won't learn if you put larger wheels on the vehicle much less the calipers/rotors/master cylinder.
For further reading I would suggest this article. Also I don't mention anything about Traction Control Systems or anything advanced like that because the S13/S14 aren't equipped them. But basically if the ABS doesn't function correctly it will create issues in the other more advance systems."

thats the site where i got the quote from. seems sort of funny that it says if the ABS doesnt function, it will create more issues in "advanced systems" what the hell is advanced on a 17 year old car? not like i have traction control

can anyone give me a bit of insight into this? perhaps someone with an s13 with abs and has done the swap?

i intalled z32 front brakes on my friends s14 with ABS and it didnt affect the abs system at all, the brakes worked normally, nothing out of the ordinary, the ABS dosnt kick in randomly it does when its suppose too and no problems so far...just from my own experience =D

i understand your concern, i had looked into it and supposedly the increase in the pressure needed to use the 4 pistons instead of the 1 would cause the sensors to read an incorrect reading and disabling the ABS making it useless

so i thought my friend wouldnt have ABS anymore but we installed them and when we went to test it all out, we got on the brakes and sure enough we felt the ABS kick in and the brakes didnt lock and skid but they seem to stop just like the z32 fronts on my non-ABS 240

no problems with abs acting ghey on my s14. i have yet to experience the need to slam on my brakes enough for abs to kick in, but it never kicked in at an inappropriate time. install the brakes, you'll be fine.
