Hey Guys,

Z32 Brake upgrade on a G50...is it pretty straight forward?

Eg- put on rotors (no redrilling?) bolt on calipers and lines bleed brakes?

Im looking at just doing the fronts. Any help is appreciated.

Sam

honestly unless you plan on doing any sort of racing where you need a lot of options with brake pads, Z brakes on a Q arent really worth it..

Just get yourself a set of hawk HPS pads and be done with it..

Just so you know, I have all Z32 brakes on my Q.. The only reason i did it on my car is because I race my car occasionally and i like having the option to get race pads.

Hawk only lists a application for the Rear of 1990 to 1995 Q45.

Any suggestions for the fronts?

thanks!

Hawk lists the 415 part number for J30 '92 to '97 and Q45 for '94 to '96.

Doing a seach for the HB415F.583, looks like others say the same thing. It fits the earlier Q also.

Thanks much for the info!! Especially the tip, not to bother with the bigger Z brakes.

I heard that the calipers are slightly lighter than the Q45 calipers, is that true?

well thats if you get the aluminum calipers from the early models.

heres what I know. 90-93 Z32s had aluminum calipers, the N/A models had rotors of 26mm thickness, the twin turbo had 30mm.. Then 94-96 all had 30mm thick iron calipers.

I have the iron calipers on my Q, I installed aluminum calipers on another Q.

I would say that the aluminum calipers were about the same as the stock Q calipers, the iron calipers maybe a little heavier (been a while since I did this). Either way, a couple pounds here or there of non rotating mass is not something to worry about. Ive heard (heresay) that the aluminum calipers are more likely to warp and therefore warp rotors faster.

Personally, I put the iron calipers on my car because thats what was convenient at the time..

Actually I found some info on the Q45 and 300ZX rotors and caliper: http://www.ka24development.com/brake_upgrades.html

Not sure if its 100% accurate.
