I was thinking about upgrading my stock front brakes to z32s. In the future, I'm going to try to make around 230HP max. I was just wanted to know if these brakes would be overkill for what I'm trying to do. I don't want the brakes to be wimpy and not be able to handle the HP, but I also don't want my head to go into the dash every time I hit the brakes. What are your guys' opinions, and btw, it's only going to be the front brakes I'm changing, and the master cylinder.

Are you going to be tracking this car? If not, then the Z brakes may be overkill.

Nope, just a DD for me. If they're going to be too much, what do you suggest I do to compensate for the extra HP?

I just out Q45 brakes on, love it. They're like the same as Z32 brakes.

I have the q45 brakes also. Great upgrade and they are a straight bolt on.

So what's so much better about those? It is starting to sound like z32s are going to be overkill, so if Q45s are the same, won't it still be overkill?

Am I missing something? Are the Q45s a little less "powerful?" Do they cost any less/more?

Finally, how much HP do you guys have? I highly doubt your guys' cars are stock if you guys are runnin these brakes.

The q45 calipers have two pistons rather than the single piston of the stock 240sx brakes that with a larger pad and to wrap it all up they utilize a 11" rotor to add to the stopping power. My car makes about 45 HP on a good day. So how does having tons of HP relate to the control and/or stopping ability of your car??

Edit: I forgot to mention going w/ q45s you don't have to mess around w/ custom brake lines or getting a new master cylinder. Just something else to think about.

the q45 is no where near the same as the z32 swap. the q swap is very nice and i love it and like half as much as the z32 brakes. i woudl def go with the q45s.

??? You can do 120 mph with a stock motor or a 500 hp monster. Having more hp has nothing to do with stopping ability. I only have slight engine mods but I love being able to stop on a dime. Makes me feel a little safer too.I thought I read somewhere that the q45 brakes have about 90% of the stopping power of the z32 brakes.

What type of tires you have is going to impact stopping distance far more significantly than a caliper upgrade. If you plan on doing repeated high-speed stops(i.e. tracking your car) without a lot of brake fade, then go for the Z32 upgrade. Otherwise invest in some nice rubber and call it a day.

I recently upgraded to EBC Greens on my Altima and have exceeded the limitations of the stock tire size. AZ89two4Tsx, if your car is simply going to serve as a DD, then you may want to consider a combo of tire and pad upgrade.

So, do you think I should upgrade the master cylinder?

Btw, if you guys didn't know I'm only doing the fronts.

Here is the list I have so far:

-Q45 calipers, rotors, pads-SS brake lines-Drill for 4 lug-Master Cylinder?
