So I finally got around to buying some rotors so I could install my Z32 30mm Alum calipers I got back in February zerothread?id=228844.

I paid $130 shipped for them, Brembo Blanks (same as rear that I already had) that have been CD/S.

Anyway, everything went together really nice and easy with the only hard part being cutting away the dust shield so the rotors would fit.

So as I first drive the car and start the light break-in and 60mph to 40mph stops to set the rotors and pads I hear a grinding sound. Well I get out to look "because I know the dust shields aren't rubbing". Well this is what I see, a small ring on the outside of the rotor where the pad isn't making contact but it's grinding into the rotor. Well it hasn't damaged the rotor but I'm def not driving around with it like this so I had to park it. I haven't taken it apart either but will get to it 1st thing in the morning.

Any ideas of what's rubbing the rotor?? It has to be part of the caliper or something in the caliper.

See the 1/4" groove on the outer most part of the rotor, WTF???

Here's the passenger side, no problems.

Back set-up for giggles..

Thanks-Jason

what pads are you running?have you taken that side apart to see if there was something caught between the pad and rotor?that def. shouldn't be happening. maybe just a piece of debris fell in there. did your calipers come with all the clips and pins it needed? shims aren't a big deal as my rebuild calipers didn't come with any, and i've had no problems out of em for that.

I haven't taken it apart yet, I'll be doing that tomorrow. Both calipers are complete as they came off a working car.

Each caliper has Hawk pads, 2 shims per pad, 1 solid metal shim and 1 slotted metal shim.

I'm thinking that something got in there as well but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I have the same setup on my car. Yeah that seems odd as the z32 fixed caliper pads are held in by pins, instead of the clips used on the stock 1 piston slider calipers. I'd suspect the silver clip which sits in the big gap inbetween the pistons, that puts pressure on the pads, insn't fully seated. Just take off your wheel and rotate the hub by hand to see where it's coming from. If you can't see what's causing the problem, take that caliper off, take the pads out, inspect everything, reassemble & re-roadtest.

Good luck
