So I got my 26mm calipers, rotors, hawk hps pads, spl lines, speed bleeders, and ford heavy duty dot3 brake fluid and I STILL can't do my brake swap.

I guess the calipers from autozone don't have the assembly that holds the brake pads in place. Anybody happen to know the part numbers for them, or at least the proper name for those brackets for when I call around town?

I hope somebody has them, I would like to do my swap this weekend.

My stock brakes have started making odd noises that sound almost like grinding. It seems more like a rub than a grind but the pads seem to be sticking sometimes too. I am pretty sure there is pad left on everything too, but I guess I need to take the wheels off.

Thanks!I will see if the dealer has some first, but that probably is not likely. I would like to do it this weekend, but found out the autocross I wanted to go to isn't till next weekend so I guess I am not in that big of a hurry.

Still wondering why the stock brakes started making all kinds of noise in the last 2 or 3 days and still look like they have meat left on the pad.

if it's a crunch or a grind, the sliding pins may have rusted into place. One of them did that on my rear caliper. It was a b1tch to get it out. Ended up needing an impact hammer and an extra set of hands to twist and pull the pin.

if you go with PDM, be prepared for a long wait. They're located in the british columbia. My pads and clips took about a week and a half to get to me.

Another question on the brake parts.

Looking at the fiche from twin turbo I now see all the parts you listed and how they match up.

I am confused on those plates that are in the 21080K brake hardware kit that appear next to the pad. My hawk pads seem to already have a plate that looks the same on them. I seems like I don't need to worry about it, just wanted to check.

It also looks like said brake hardware kit doesn't have the pieces I need either.

Man, what a bunch of crap. $45 for those parts. Nobody else besides the dealer around here sells them either.

I'm not that cool. Without having more experience and having one to copy off of, I don't think I should try to make the parts.

It is very easy to do. Just go to your local supply store and buy a stick of drill rod. It is just a metal rod. They should have it in the size to fit the holes. Cut it into appropriate lengths. Then drill small holes in the rod for the cotter pins. I used a drill press to drill the holes, it makes life so much easier.

That would save some money on the pins. but then you have to bend up a spring clip to shape, then figure out how to bend up a piece of sheet metal for the pad pin clip. Or was it the other way around? hmm

I am not running a spring for the pads. I just made the pins for the pads. IIRC the spring is there to reduce chatter.
