Hey guys

i have an 89 hatch, that i am putting a z32 bmc into. the only issue is that the bcm was from an abs car, and the center port does not have the internal flare like the 2 outer lines have.

can i buy this flare, or how should i get around this??

Matt

You need to cut the flare out of your old BMC and put it into your Z32 BMC

Go to this web site for Details.http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm#MC

I saw this thread in z****.net and this guy drilled a hole on the other side of BMC and tabbed the fitting out with a back of drill bit. He was able to do that without damaging the fitting. I thought it was a pretty neat idea. Try to search it. Anyone planning on z32 BMC swap, try to find one with the thrid fitting already pressed in like I did. Yes, it's out there. You just have to find it. Size is the good one which is 17/16.

Wasn't that BMC only available for the 89 since it was the only model offered without ABS.

I'm also doing this conversion and have a question along the same lines, so I'm not going to start a new thread.

I picked up a remanned BMC. That center plug has a pentagon shape instead of a hexagon shape. Had it been a hex-plug, I could just use an allen wrench to back it out. However, I can't get any size (sae or metric) to work in the penta-plug.

Has anyone had any experience with this? None of my friends have "the proper tool" and the auto parts stores I've checked have nothing either. I'm going to check harbor freight and see if they have anything. If all else fails, I'm going to try using an easy out.

I am going to go look up 46010-30P22 as SmithSR suggested. Maybe that's better than screwing around with the Z32 BMC.

Thanks for any help.

You could try and see if a bolt extractor will work. If the bolt extractor won't go in far enough to grab drill a hole in the center of the plug so the bolt extractor can grab on to it.

easy out = bolt extractor

I'm leaning heavily towards that option right now, but wondering what others have done.

I'm going to try to find 46010-30P22. I'm having trouble cross-referencing the part number with what's available at the parts stores. If that works, then problems solved. Too bad I all ready destroyed a DSM BMC to get the fitting out.

What's the size? 17/16 is recommended size.

From what I've gathered from internetting, the 30p22 is 17/16 Nabco unit.

I had a couple of the parts stores cross-reference that BMC with their parts. It doesn't seem to make any difference what OEM BMC number you give them, it keeps coming up with the same part number.

So if I tell them I want 46010-30p22, I get part number 11-2556(example) - which is the same as the 30p02 BMC I all ready received. So getting a remanned BMC for the exact OEM part number you want is a total crap shoot. You could spend a month going back and forth re-ordering BMC's.

My search continues.

Mine must be it. I have Nabco 17/16 3rd fitting already pressed in.

Could you do me a HUGE favor and check the end of your BMC for the oem part number?

It should be something like 30p##

I'd greatly appreciate it.

No, I don't see any part number on my BMC.There's "N1D32" stamped at the end of BMC.

From more searching, it seems that Tokico units (both factory and remanufactured) use that penta plug and Nabco units use a metric allen plug. So try to find a Nabco if you don't want to mess around with the plug.

So I FINALLY got a Nabco BMC from Advanced Auto Parts!

It was remanned by Cardone. I pulled it out of the packaging and it was 30p22. It had the allen plug for the middle line and did not have a fitting behind it. So not all 30p22's are 100% drop in and go without any modification.

I had some Nabco fittings that I pulled out of a DSM BMC and they did not fit. I ended up cutting up my S13 BMC instead.

So anyways, the only thing holding me back from doing my Z32 front conversion is time and a buddy to help bleed the entire system.

Thanks everyone for your help.
