Okay as title states got rear Z32 brakes on my S13. I swaped all the parts, most of the parts are brand new. I got it all on the car.

Now only thing holding me back is the e-brake cable, their R33 GTST cables, I routed cables through hole in lower portion of subframe, it has enough slack and everything. mounts to stock location in the "t-bar/driveshaft" area. But I'm having problems with getting front e-brake cable to reach the brake handle where you make adjustment. Its about 1.5-2 inches too short. If I pull the cable to reach e-brake handle I max out the linkage in back and I'm unable to install brake shoes.

I have enough slack on the e-brake cables, If I would mount them about 1.5-2inches closer to the front of the car than stock location, it seams they would reach. I would have to make up custom brackets to mount the cables extended to vehicle.

Before I attempt to do anything. I just want to know if someone has had this problem as well, and what they did to resolve it. I see lots of people have problems with cables being too long and they have to be mounted farther to back of vehicle.

And this is a '90 240sx coupe with no ABS if that makes a difference, If you have Z32 brakes with r33 cables let me know if it was coupe or hatch and ABS or non/ABS model.

Try loosening up the nut under the e-brake handle and turning the star screw in each wheel until they all the way in, then insert the cables in the T bar and bolt them both in to the mounts, afterwards adjust the star nuts out until you feel a little drag when putting the disc/drum on and finally tighten the handle nut until its fully engaged by 5 clicks.

I used 91 to 94 B13 Sentra drum brake cables with modifications on my car, a 89 hatchback without ABS, however the R33 cables are supossed to be spot on from what I have read.

obviously the handle should be down but here is the nut

and in the brake assembly the adjuster screw is under the hub with a spring against it.

Thanks for the info Kraelic, but I have all ready have went through those write-ups.

For some reason the R33 linkage cable inside the sleeve is short, but the cable is long enough.

You probably seen brackets that are in the write-ups, I'm making something very similar to it but I'm going to have my cables mounted a bout 1-3/4" fore ward.

And adj. nut is backed totally off, and drums/rotors aren't even on the car.

When I mount cables into the t-bar I need another 1.5" of cable to reach brake handle in the release position(fully down).

Well back to work got that RB in so some stupid brake cables aren't going to hold me back, other wise I'll just roll with no e-brake. Park with gear in.

Thanks bro I all ready got this handled, fabed up some brackets from scap/spare parts I had laying around. Got the drums/rotors installed all is honkey-dory now.

Here are some pics I snaped while I was doing this, knew some one would probably wine that I didnt take pics.

Seen something similar on the forum one of the members was selling, so I figured I'll give it a shot, its towards end of week. Even if I would order something like this it would take few days to arrive, so I gave it a shot.

I'll make a brief description to go along with pics.

These were my first ones I made, or attempted was freehand formed. Kind of eyed balled and took few mesurements. Think they came out okay.

This started out from a L shaped beam/bar I picked up at Home Depot few weeks ago. Its a .25" thick steel L shaped beam was like 6feet long, coasted me about $12

I used old e-brake cables to make the holes in the brackets so it would be a good fit.

As you know e-brake cable has a dowel/centering pin where it bolts to body, well I didnt have any dowels or pins laying around. But I have a $hit load of loose bolts, so I choped of the heads from I think like 12mm bolts. I had a hole drilled through. I put a nut on one side so the choped off bolt would sit flush against the bracket. And I used my MIG welder to tack it into place on both sides. Then I grinded down one side where cable would go. And I ended up with something like above. They dont look pretty but their solid and get done what I need them to do.

For some reason the R33 e-brake cables were not long enough to reach the t-bracket when mounted in the stock S13 location. But the R33 cables are long enough, I have nice slack and bend going towards the back and to the sides. Their secured/bolted down onto the subframe like old ones were. I'm just glad I crossed this bridge.

And now I just have left bleed brakes, install wheels, and tighten my axle flange bolts down.

New wheel bearings, backing plates and R32/Z32 calipers

OOPs how did this get in there, check out my Cusco strut bar son.

That's it folks, thanks for comments, I wasnt sure if I was doing this right. Dont know if Z32 2+2 cable linkage is longer than R33 GTST, in which case it would allow mounting in stock location of e-brake cable on S13 or if my car is an odd ball.
