Z31 turbo question

I am pulling out the turbo from a z31 and I need to know if the internal wastegate is something I need to keep or can replace with an external? also having difficulty getting into the space for the bolt on the exhaust manifold any tips it is a wierd angle and very tight spot.

Depends on how much power you plan on making. How much power do you plan on making.

well the fact of the matter is I am pulling it out of the car we bent the rod pretty bad get at the manifold bolts, so i was wondering if we could just do an after market wastegate. I plan to see if I can do a ka24det with the T3. Any and all help would be great, I dont know much about z cars.

You can do whatever you want. A wastegate is a wastegate. But chances are, fixing the internal wastegate will be far cheaper and easier.

replacing the actuator is a heck of a lot easier than running an external wastegate, if your up to adding the wastegate port and the additional piping by all means have at

So I pullled the turbo, and recovered the internal wastegate, the rod has been bent pretty bad but I am sure I can twist it back into shape... we had to bend a lot of hoses and stuff to get it out of the z. We also used a shifter from a celica as a crow bar to pop off the steering knuckle (man we should have brought a hammer). Turbo has no shaft play or anything.
