z31 T3 watercooling....

On the watercooled T3s off of the z31 300zx's do you need have them watercooled. Or can I remove the water lines and just let it be air cooled. This won't be a permant thing, just something so I can get it up and running sooner and deal with it when I work out all the 'bugs'.
