Z31 problems-anyones help...

My Z31 is being a *****. When I drop the clutch out of first, it jerks hard forward and then wants to die soon after. It keeps jerkin forward then wants to die and there is no acceleration, just jerkin like your riding a bull. Someone told me its timing but before I go riping off my timing belt cover to inspect, I wanted to get some more opinions on what the problem might be. Any help would be apreciated.

that sounds like the t-belt jumped a tooth or something. try checking your ign timing to see if its off. if its off and you have to turn the dist all the way to one side to go in, the belt is messed up.
