Z31 problems-anyones help...

My Z31 has been acting strangely. When I drop the clutch out of first gear it jerks really hard forward then it almost stops and wants to die, then it jerks forward and repeats its self over and doesn't accelerate. Someone told me its timing, but before I take off my timing belt cover and inspect the belt, I want to get some feedback on what else might be the problem. Anyones help would be appreciated.

COuld be your MAF or TPS..I had a problem with mine being very jerky back a few years ago and I traced it to the TPS harness being coroded...-Chet
