I recently went to the local pick and pull for a friends car and I stumbled upon a pair of Z31s in the yard. One is a 1984 NA Z31 and the other is a 1986 turbo Z31. Both have complete engine bays. I dont really need the actual turbo off of them, but I am just wondering if there is anything that I could grab off of them, that I can use. I figure that I might as well take advantage of them while I have them to steal parts from. So basically I am asking, of those two cars, what would I be able to use in my own KA-T project? Also, they are both 5-lug setups, but they arent 4-piston like the Z32. How good are these brakes? If I took everything off of these cars except the calipers, would the Z32 calipers fit on those rotors? Thank you for any help you can give.

Master Cyl., do you already have a turbo? Because the 85 is a T3 and just as usable as any other if you remove two of the studs on the back and use an external wastegate.

I believe so, but I think most people use S14 and Z32. The spindles on the Z31 should be cast iron as they are almost identical to the S series. On the Z32, they became aluminum, which is why they are more desireable.

But other than that material difference, they are they same correct?? and the Z32 4-piston calipers will fit on them? The reason that I ask is because these are available and I have a set of Z32 calipers, but only the calipers. So if they fit, I will have a full setup. I think im gonna go pull them tomorrow. Thank you.

Do the Turbo and the NA both match up on S13s? As far as the spindles and hubs and everything go. My friend is going with me and he has an s13 aswell, so he may pick his 5-lug stuff off of the NA model.

don't Z31's have a HLSD or something better? like the older 1's, tho i believe that started in the 87?

also you could probably pull those turbos & sell'em.

1. Yes, but you can use S series spindles, and you just need the bearing hubs. They use the same 4 bolt pattern. 2. Yes, turbo and NA are the same. 3. No, the Z31s were not offered with a HLSD, I am not even sure that they were offered with the VLSD. The first Z that I am aware of in the 300 series is the Z32, but that doesn't mean they didn't make it. It for sure would not have been offered with a HLSD in the Z31, or I would have heard about it and had one already. I am dying for an HLSD, I would trade my VLSD plus 200 bux for it.

ok what i searched around is that the Z31 turbo built on 10/86 has a clutch lsd, not a Hlsd, it also comes with a 3.7(says only 4/87 date) gear so that'd make the 240sx slower.....unless you got a turbo:).

"the diff "spool" if you want to call it that (the actuall clutch part) will bolt into the 240sx diff using the 240sx ring and pinion gears."

Yes, they are all R200s so you would be good. I didn't know about the clutch diff though, that is cool. Also, all of the KA-t guys I know of still use the 4.086. So it will slow you down, turbo or not.

Final question: Will calipers from a 93 300zx TT fit on the rotors of the 1984 300zx Turbo? I have the calipers, I just want to know if they will fit, so that I can go get the rotors and 5-lug setup from the yard, and throw a 4-piston caliper on them. Then I will have nice 5-lugs with nice brakes. Anyone know the answer to this? Thanks for everything so far.

Call the parts store and see if they are the same part number. But don't bother with used rotors. You can use a 4 lug rotor and get it redrilled.

No, I know that I shouldnt use used rotors. I was planning on getting new rotors for it from Napa. Just some brembo blanks or something. I was just curious if the OEM sized rotors for a 93 TT will bolt onto the parts from the 84. I will call Nissan tomorrow though. Thanks for the help.
