hey I recently bought a 1986 300zx non turbo. it comes stock with sides skirts as you all probably may know. I'm looking to buy some type of front lip/ bumper to improve the look of the front end. If anyone knows of any inside sources let me know! Iv already looked at the top results from search engines like google and found nothing helpful. Also does anyone know how hard and how to tint the the center piece of the taillights on a 86? I already have the paint just could use some advice from someone who knows these cars I personally like the 88-89 style tail lights much better but i didnt do much research before i bought the car. thanks for looking!

The only lip available for the 86 nose is the 86 turbo lip. There are a few bumper covers sold by MSA, and you could always do a front end conversion to the 87+ nose.

to convert to later style tail lights you have to cut out the rear section and weld int he new, it's easier to just buy the car you want to start with

there is a center panel that you can buy to fill the center to look more like the later style, MSa sells them, the Paul Newman Z31 had one on it but then it didn't have a licence plate which si the issue, you then have to make a bumper mount for the licence plate, althought I an pretty sure the later style bumepr will bolt on

and some of the years and models had the tinted tails, can't rememebr which ones got it check otu az zbums site I'm sure he has it detailed

as for the lip, the turbo lip bolt on or you can buy a new airdam check msa's site, zcarparts.com

Sell the 86 and buy an 87-89 then. To swap tail lights, you need to know how to weld and do body work. Since you are asking the question, you probably don't know how to do this.

There is a list of body kits on my site, but as you've noticed, the 86 already comes with side skirts. As was mentioned, MSA has the biggest selection of front lips. Most will require slight modifications to make them fit the 86 because of the wider fenders. Another source may be http://www.blackdragonauto.com

Thanks that site has a lot of stuff. I don't dislike the 86 style tail lights enough to do any type of welding.I am interested to know more about doing a 87-89 front end swap. could I just switch the front end or would i need quarter panels too? Most of the msa airdams say that slight modification is needed to fit a 86 model. why is this? are the newer years wider?-thx

fenders are NOT required.

I already told you why modifications would be needed to fit the 86 models.

thanks. i don't think the differences between the 86 and 87 style bodies is distinct enough to do a full conversion..at least not yet =D, the original paint is still in excellent condition. I don't really like the turbo lip, it does not square out the front end enough..i think i'm going to just get this.. http://www.bodykits.net/images...0.jpg
