My 1988 Z31 seems to have the same expansion valve as a 1979 Datsun 280Z. I cant find a replacement that matches my example. Most are flare, mine is not.

Above is the expansion valve that my Z had installed. I can't seem to find a suitable replacement at any local auto parts store, or a new one online. I have spent many hours, and a lot of fuel searching for a new one, but I have only found the ones like the link below contains.

If anyone has information on where I can score a new one of these for a reasonable price, please let me know.

Thanks,
Sebastian

Have you tried the usual sources( Zcarparts.com, courtesyparts.com, blackdragonauto.com)?

I have searched all of the referenced websites, and also local automotive A/C shops, but no one seems to carry this specific part.

Above is a picture of the expansion valve that I removed from my evaporator core. This resembles an expansion valve out of a 280Z rather than one out of a 300ZX.

Last expansion valve I replaced was on a CRX and I got it form my local Bumper to Bumper distributor. I've never had to do one on a Z car, have you tried you local independant parts place? Sometimes when the big chains fail the little shops come through.

None of the local parts stores carried it, what I ended up having to do was to scavenge another entire evaporator core with the expansion valve still attached. Worked like a charm, and now I have cold A/C!
