The 300ZX models had auto climate controls. They sucked. I ripped that crap out of my 1984 and swapped in the manual controls. Upon doing so, I found 7 different sensors that allowed the system to see what it needed.
Sun load sensor in the dash.Temp sensor on the water c***.Temp sensor in the roof.Temp sensor on the intake door of the blower.Temp sensor in the driver side dash vent ducting.Temp sensor in the passenger side dash vent ducting.Temp sensor in the upper windshield vent ducting.Temp sensor in the major foot ducting.
In other words, a **** ton of temp and load sensors that would have to be added and wired if you wanted to go to the auto climate controls. Also, the Z31 version was a major piece of junk. You couldn't control anything but the temperature. The system decided which vents the air was going to come out of. So if a sensor was bad, you were screwed.
Plain and simple: It's not even remotely worth it unless you have a complete parts car and know if/where there might be extra sensors.
