Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a 85 Z31 300zx turbo with 45k original miles. Thing is the car hasn't been used for 20 years but is running. The owner is telling me that it's producing black smoke and that his brother which is a mechanic said the turbo seals are gone since it hasn't been used for so long. Thing is it's 6 hours away from me and if I'm going to move it all the way here I want to make sure that it's not the engine that's messing up. What else could be wrong if there's black smoke?

Thank you

1500 is a bit much to be asking to drive 6 hours for when it's already smoking. Just my 2 cents.

If it's smoking it'd be well worth the time to do a compression test and verify that the engine is solid. Plan on doing a timing belt asap as well, if it's been sitting so long the timing belt could snap at any monute and tank the motor.
