There are? Really? That's all? Where did you get this information? Did you search all 50 states DMV records? Or did you do a CARFAX on all 5148 VINs? Or did you pull that out of your ***?

Hint: Before you answer, read this page:http://www.az-zbum.com/information.50th.ae.shtml

As far as the insurance company goes, argue with them. Make them find 50th AEs, or find them youself in the autotraders and e-bay. Give them a listing with the asking prices and show them ones in comparable condition.

That is a personal GUESS and that is it. No one knows for sure how many are still on the road. But I know that there were only 1002 SS produced and I see the 50th's alittle more than the SS's. Chances are that number is approximately correct. There is no proof to validate that statement at all and your registry is an excellent thing to try and determine that. But there can't be that many left. I know in my area over the past 10 years I have seen many in the scrap yards. I am sure other people have seen just as many. So all in all you are right in the fact that my statement is completely unmerited but still likely possible. I still like your work and respect your knowledge to the fullest.

this is why you get a collector policy if it's a rare car such as an AE or SS, the companies make you jump through hoops but it protects you at an agreed value, sorry to hear of your problem. it is my contention that insurance companies are evil! and if you are involved in an accident that is not your fault you will soon be victimized by the insurance company as well
