Z31 300ZX 400HP, Can be done cheap?

Hey guys, I was looking to get alot of hp for the budget and read on some forum that you can get your z31 300zx tt car to 400hp pretty cheap. Is this true or am I dreaming? There's one avail for $1700 in pretty good condition. So I need to know!

400 HP can be done. Cheap is a reletive term. Cheap used HX or HY35 turbo ($3-400), DSM or similar injectors ($100), Nistune, zemulator, rumulator or Megasquirt ($200 or more), Vertical flow intercooler ($200) turbo piping ($100), dump pipe exhaust ($20), Cone ait folter ($30), that should get you 400 whp for around $1000

These cars are under appreciated. Granted that figure could easily multiply if you are paying someone else to do the work or buy all new parts. Most of us older Z guys start makign power with cheap used parts. Then we go crazy and spend thousands more to make a little more power.

It's been done before for cheap. But it didn't last for long when it was done for cheap. A buddy dynoed at 450rwhp and it didn't last for long.
