I have a 1986 4x4 with the z24i that needs a new timing chain. The truck has a single roller chain in it now. The kit at the parts store is a double roller chain. Will the double roller chain be a direct replacement or is this the wrong kit. It comes with new sprockets also. Thanks

If it comes with ALL new sprockets (basically everything the chain touches), then it sounds like a retrofit kit, and it should work, provided there is enough clearance between the timing covers and the new sprockets.

Perfect thank you. I installed the kit today. The truck is not running right though. Found TDC on the compression stroke installed gears with marks facing 12 o'clock installed chain with colored links on their marks installed tensioner. Put everything together but cant find the timing maks with timing light. Do you think the crank and cam are off a tooth or would the piston hit the valves like that. Or the dizzy and oil pump off a tooth.

I usually advocate spinning the engine by hand (socket on the crank pulley) just to verify that pistons wont hit valves, but if its actually running, I doubt that's your problem.
If you rotate your dizzy so its hard over in one direction (such that it runs best), then yeah, you're probably off a tooth there.
