ok this is my first post .so it might be a little long
Ive got 3 nissan trucks the newest is a 98 with the ka motor that threw a rod out the side
and i have a 88 with a z24i that the trans went out
so i put the 5 speed from the 98 in the 88 works great but no speedometer
due to 1 is electric the 88 is cable
so to the point
i want to take the z24 out of the 88 and put it in the 98
my question is the ecu i know ill have to change it with the motor
but will my gauges work ? like my speedometer and tack or will i have to change them all to ?
i signed up for this forum just for this swap so any help would be nice before i start tearing them both apart

Do you have emission testing in your area?

Is this a trail only truck? Or will you drive on street?

You need to check with your DMV. There are some pretty tight rules on engine swaps that vary state to state. However the Z24i is not an OBD-II engine. So swapping in the Z24i and it's ECU would effectively downgrade the emissions system and likely violate federal law.
