First thing I would recommend is going to the "look here before posting a thread" link at the top of the first page, then scroll down about half way where somebody posted a link to the service manuals... you'll need this later so bookmark it.
Next is my answer...
I can't remember off the top of my head which side is the leading side, but that's the side you'd want to keep functional if you're wanting to fire just one plug until you can replace your bad coil, you may also need to play with your ignition timing so it'll run efficiently. If you were to fire the trailing side only, the timing may be retarded too far so check out the online manual then set it up to fire the leading side... (link to the manual is in the "look here before posting a thread" sticky at the top of the 720 forum page)
I've heard of several people who have done away with the leading/trailing setup without any problems by running the coils in parallel from just one ignition source, firing them both at the same time and advancing the timing to compensate for the leading/trailing firing setup. The stock setup fires one plug first, then a few degrees later the second plug is fired, but they can both be fired at the same time, and the engine will run just firing one side.
Personally I'd prefer to fire both plugs at the same time off the leading side, but with one coil out, you can run just one plug off the leading side without any problems, although I would recommend replacing the bad coil soon just to prevent you from becoming stranded if the other coil goes out.
Hope this helps and be sure to bookmark the page that has the manual.
