have a 1986 nissan nomad, vanette c22 with a z24 engine in it

just replaced the points and cap and having nothing but problems with it

due to were the engine is i can't get a spaner or socket on the crank pully to align the rotor to highest point so trying to do a reverse gap on the lowest side sort of works for a while then it starts missing again.

have now advanced the timeing on the distributor to compensate for the missing and runs better but still miss under acceleration. have check all the leads with a muli meter and are with in specs.

i think i may have a vacum problem and this is causing the problem

also the engine has a emition control system on it called AEI with heaps of vacum lines coming off the carby and the air cleaner can i buy pass all this system and just use the vacum line on the distrubtor when i got the van half of it has been disconected and whats left of the pipes are all split etc

any info be great

thanks
kevin

For the easiest fix, I would switch to Pertronics or Matchbox ignition so you get rid of those points. For the long route, time to remove stuff that's in the way so you can set TDC in order to time it correctly.
