After a season of beating the crap out of my brakes, I need to replace the rotors (mainly rear, but fronts aren't cutting it at 11 inches diameter).

Found this snazzy little kit from Z1: http://www.z1motorsports.com/p...=2485

Everything looks good on the kit, as you can customize the brake pad and rotor type... but I was wondering...

1. Okay for track use (i.e. the mounting kit)?2. Anyone have experience with this kit? If so, please share.

I see the z1 dudes around here pretty often, so maybe they can weigh in on the topic.

Thanks!

p.s. I will email the contact on the z1 site, but anyone know how much replacement rotors cost for this kit, and if I can get them through z1?

They are the 350Z track rotors. I had this upgrade but it was giving me problems. The pads from a Z32 calipers don't completely fit the 13 inch rotor.

Seriously? I appreciate that, thanks.

Ah, I was unaware that it was just the 350z rotors. I didn't see that in the product description at all. I've read up on the issues of the pad overhang. Thanks for the heads up.

Case closed.

Stoptech Matt.

There is a Wilwood brake group buy on Zilvia right now i think. 6 piston caliper setup, I believe.

I'd just get StopTech though.

I hope my car is worth more than $3700... Especially after the restoration she'll be getting this month and coming winter hehe.

Those Rotora 8-pistons don't even come close to fitting under my wheels. The ones that would are half the price.

Dare I bring up this option: http://www.arizonazcar.com/240sxbrakes.html

My buddy has these on his turbo 13b 510... waiting for a track-test still...

The number of pistons has nothing to do with braking force...

DO NOT BUY ARIZONA Z BRAKES!

f***ing guy is a douche nozzle x25. He doesn't deserve your money.

I'm telling you the willwood kit is pretty decent for the price.

are you hitting 150+ on the straights?

Hehe, I put that up there just to piss you off, Amrit.

I'm capable of pretty much topping out at 7500 rpm in fifth gear at Pacific Raceways. Need moar brake plz, especially with the new rubber.

What's the price on that group buy?

you know with the wider and nicer rubber your brakes will improve as well right?

unless you getting fade your z32 brakes should be doing well. what pads do you run again? change the brake fluid often?

I would probably go with the wilwood kit as well- the legit one. Seems like an awesome setup for the money!

You might like to try, and I kid you not, eBay. I got a really nice set of AP racing 330mm rotors, 4 piston calipers, and brackets for $600. They were for a 300zx TT, and I got them from a guy who used them on a show car for 1500 miles. They are very awesome.

EDIT: Forgot, he also threw in an extra set of (new) Hawk pads.

Of course. That's one of the main reasons I need more diameter on the rotor. More heat.

The z32's aren't fading (well, only faded once because I didn't bleed after two track days), but they don't have enough grabbing force at high speed (100mph+). Currently running Hawk HP+ as the car was partially used on the street.

I will be upgrading to a heavy-duty pad like the Hawk DTC-70, as speeds and temps will be drastically increasing from the latest rubber upgrade.

I'm happy with the z32 calipers, but the rotor diameter is lacking. Hence my initial excitement for the z1 package. Too bad they are the 350z rotors.

Good call on the ebay watching. I'm not in a time-crunch so I have time to find a good deal.

The Wilwood kit does look pretty badass for the price, too.

Wow I never knew that PBM offered that rotor kit.

After looking at it, I'm skeptical of the rotor fitting properly with the z32 caliper. The contact patch looks like it has the overhang issue, no?

hope that helps in your decision. great upgrade, unfortunately i had 26mm caliper's to play with at the time and ended up getting stoptech slotted rotors on my discount. then sourced 30mm alum. calipers a month later and switched all of my previous setup to my M30 and got this Z1 kit for the 240.

trust me, best bang for buck.

Stay away from Z car so called BBK,

Z33 Brembo Are @ smae price OR

EVO IX Brembo's like me

12.6'' Rotor (320mm) And 4x piston front and 2x piston rear

USDM S14 Pad Vs EVO IX pad

And you can go with 2-piece rotor slotted / drilled what ever you like
