Whag as re your guys thoughts on the z1 power pack.....I read mixed reviews on this upgrade some say it's good for the car because it lets the engine breath more and run more efficient some say it's best to just stay stock.....also if the z1 power pack is a descent upgrade what exhaust would you suggest I like the 3 inch z1 but it looks like it is crazy loud or the 2.5inch hks also I would do the high flow car on both.....any thoughts?????

The theory with exhaust is unless you are making 700+ the best setup is 3" expansion pipes with 3" to 2.5 test pipes and a 2.5" catback. The flow of the exhaust gasses cool and contract so to maintain the velocity you decrease the cross-section of the pipe. That's the theory, I've never modeled it nor do I have any dyno info to back it up, I'm sure Z1 could provide you with such data. Think of the system this way: at stock power levels the flow requirements are optimized by the factory, when increasing the flow requirements (how much the turbo pushes out) your choke point becomes those portions of the system which are not ideally sized for the requisite conditions, thus by increasing the size of the exhaust and removing restrictions (like the cats) you allow the exhaust to breath OUT better. As for the intake, you will see the biggest gains from doing the intercooler and piping upgrade https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-produc ... -6555.html . Again, the discussion is all theoretical based on thermal dynamics principals, what it all behaves like in the real world is a question you'd have to ask the vendors who have done the research.

Thank you for the info man.....I think what I will do is do a high flow cat 2.5 inch to the hks 2.5 cat with the z1 power pack and then get the intercoolers next and that's about all I will do engine wise I feel like that will put me at a reliable spot with some descent power

Z1 400hp pack is a standard "stage 3 " for our cars. Your plan for the exh. will greatly improve turbo spool if you add down pipes.
Even if you don't want 2.5" intercoolers and pipe; I'd suggest at least an upgraded 2" inlet/outlet inter-cooler. The oem puny coolers are not very efficient for any power goals especially when you start increasing boost pressure. Z1 and CZP carry every cost effective ones, the god speed are only about $250-300 that has decent value.

Also, I would ditch all the gauges and boost jets in the Z1 400hp package and get a electronic boost controller most units now have built in boost gauges.

Just my $0.02.

Which Z is this for?

I'm assuming it's for the 370Z?

I didn't realize they had stuff for the Z32. I'm experienced with what they offer for the 370Z and it's fantastic. Z1 is now officially partnered with NISMO so you can rest assured they're top notch as far as parts and service goes. They're absolutely fantastic and very very knowledgeable with Z cars.

I'm going to move this into the Z32 forums to see if anyone there has experience with this specific part set. Good luck!
