Park it on a steep uphill slope, chock the wheels and set the E-brake, start the car (while cold), turn the heater on (max hot or 90*, depending on manual/digital controls) and remove the radiator cap and the bleed screw, and add water as the level goes down.
And as for the other issue, Check what McG said. Most likely will be the MAF. Or a vacuum leak, but the vac leak would make it run like crap all the time.
Not a vac leak, I can tell you that right off the bat. I'm thinking MAF now also, but it's only happened 3 times in a month so the overheating is my first issue to fix.
Update:: Burped the radiator, took about 1/5 more coolant from the bottle. Worked great for 50 miles. Then today It started to get 3/4 of the way to overheating. So I check my levels and it took about 1/3 of the bottle again. Now it's completely full. 30 miles later, it takes about 1/8 of the bottle. (note: these are the big, pre-mixed bottles at local 711's of coolant). So when my waterpump went i would lose all of my coolant fast, and only chance I have of not overheating is air-cooled from speed(lol). Now it seems almost like a slow leak, (well, slow in comparison to a bad waterpump). Maybe a bad seal? Can't find any leaks in the coolant hose, Any one got some ideas or help? What else can I check?
Note: Specific is best please, my knowledge is limited.
