This might be a noob question, but I'm going to ask anyway. I was looking on everythingG35.com (as suggested by another post) and they have 2 types of "z-tubes" OEM and Stillen. The OEM is $79 and the Stillen is $60. Which is better? Are they made differently or do they use different materials? HELP please.

Welcome to NICO!

I would get the package deal, Stillen Popcharger/z-tube combo.

I have a K&N drop in and the stock airbox right now. What would I gain with the Popcharger? I hear it's only sound and maybe 1 or 2hp.

The Stillen and z-tube were my first mods. I would think it's good for a few HP's on the butt dyno...when you add the 5/16 spacer you will notice the difference. The sound alone is worth the money!! What out for a few of these guys...they like to spend your money haha!!

Either get just the Z tube (since you have the K&N) or get the whole stillen airbox combo. The Z-tube does more than anything else by removing the sound baffles and directing air straight through the throttle.

Definitely go with a spacer. You are gonna want the MREV2 plenum as well.

I see you guys love your popcharger, but I'm just looking for the difference between the Stillen replica z-tube (not the airbox) and the actual OEM z-tube. Is it just price or is there "real" differences?

I went with the OEM Z-tube b/c of the flex tube at the end. For me it just looked a little better than the stillen. The flex end offers a little more forgiveness if things don't line up perfect. Just my .02

Oh the only difference in the Z-tube and G-tube minus the baffles...there is a hose that connects on the top of the G-tube, now with the Z-tube (and Stillen tube by the way it looks) connects at the bottom.

If that tube really gives you the extra 7 HP (287hp 350z (04) vs. 280hp G35 (04) it's the best bang for your buck...however don't get too excited just yet. Your G will sound great now, I didn't really notice anything until the spacer was added. Good Luck and Welcome!!

I've got the K&N in the stock box with a Z tube. The tube does make a noticeably difference. It makes for a troatier sound in the powerband and a little more with the throttle response. I'm not talking a 20hp difference, but you will notice the difference and you will like it. Which brand to get? Can't help you there from experience, but from the looks, I can't see one having a clear advantage over the other. Save a few bucks and get the cheaper tube.

They're basically the exact same. Buy the cheaper one and be done with it.

Agreed... your not going to see ANY noticeable difference... it comes down to preference in looks..

Can someone place item numbers as I am looking into doing the same thing and will go by the majority's recommendation.

No, because item numbers usually vary from the different resellers.

I have the Z-tube & K&N drop in.

Call your local NISSAN dealers to see if they have any Z-tube take-offs before buying a new one.

I got one of mine for $15 at my local Nissan. They had NISMO'ed a few Z's with CAI's, so they made me a deal!

I also removed the bottom baffle from the bottom of the stock air box.

I actually just got one today from the dealer parts department. It was $25. I just asked if they had the intake tube from any of the 350Z's that they installed a nismo intake on or other cold air intake for a customer. He went and checked and they had one. I'm pretty sure the price is negotiable. They guy I talked to on the phone was trying to charge me $50, but when I got there I guess I talked to another guy and he only charged me $25. They may not know exactly what your talking about so be ready to describe it to them. A picture may help if they are really bad.
