i just bought a 300zx and i got a few things to ask. every time i start the car its got a weird idle to it i have to let the car warm up for 15 min and it runs normal. yesterday it took longer that usual and when i drove it around the neighborhood as soon as i took off it sounded like a damn go-kart. it took almost 2 miles to drive it to sound normal. my friend said it could be the knock sensor also it feels like i lost some power :wtf2:
my 2nd issue i changed my tie rods and one inner tie rod the car was jack up for about a week because i had to order the parts i got the job done and took it home from my friends house and the abs light turns on. i went back in the garage later that night and i found a small puddle of brake fluid where my my master cylinder was sitting under. it was a little low on brake fluid. when i went back home to check on it i looked every where for crack hose and i never saw another puddle of brake fluid any ideas? i wanna find my problem i miss my z

welcome to the site. And congrats on the "new" Z!

Not sure about the first problem. Maybe a vacuum issue.

Second issue, I'm guessing you took off the disc brakes to do the tie rods, so maybe when you put the brakes back on you had to push the piston back in causing the reservoir to overfill and spill some out. If you top it back up and get the problem again, then it is a leak somewhere. If not, maybe what I said.

good luck!

No I didn't take the calipers and rotor off I was doing the rack and pinion bushings cause they need them really bad so when I had it loose I did the tie rods

First of all, I would check for any engine codes, then go from there.

Your Detonation sensor won' cause the issue you are seeing, is the car turbo or non-turbo, check for any intake leaks and if it is a turbo, then do a boost leak test.

The idle sensor some times needs to be cleaned as it could cause the car to rev up and down when the pin inside of sensor gets stuck.

check your spark plugs.

In regards to the second issue, are you sure it is brake fluid you saw and not power steering? the reason say that, if you ps tank is topped and you try to try to turn the wheels by hand, it can push fluid out of the ps tank,

Cheers,

Rafi
