I am about half joking when I say that. Why is it that every time you go to fix something on your car, it always turns up at least two other things you have to fix?

This past weekend I took upon myself to take off my top frame and get in to the center rail for repair where I can actually use my top like intended. I have to say that the job went really well and I lucked up finding the already repaired rail at Z1 that one of you guys neglected to pick up in a timely manner (thanks, by the way)...yours will now be ready when mine gets back from repair in a few days. It's funny how showing up in a topless convertible Z, in the rain, tends to speed things along.

So, after removing the top (which was really easy by the way) I had a lot of extra time. I decided to take a look into the AC system and why it wasn't working. Found two holes in the hardline for the high and low side right up at the firewall turn. IDK if there was supposed to be a bracket there or what, but given the issue I decided to take the AC system out as completely as I could. With nothing left now but the coil under the dash and the one in front of the radiator, I saved myself a few pounds on a system I wouldn't pay to fix. As I am in the middle of pulling the lines out I realize that my brand spanking new alternator is soaked with trans fluid...uh ohh.

My rack has been leaking pretty much since I got the car. It has, up to this point, been a slow leak and not causing me a lot of trouble. The other day I noted it make the "hiss" noise on lock like it was low fluid, but that wasn't the case. With further investigation I found that not only is the rack leaking, but the high pressure line AND the pump were leaking as well. With the sheer amount of fluid dripping onto the alternator and dripping down exhaust, etc. I decided it might be best to remove the power part of the steering for a bit while I source parts...all $700 some odd dollars of them.

So, yesterday I took the part I picked up from Z1, put my top back together and on. Went pretty well aside from the counterweight springs..they are a PITA. As I was putting it back I noted that the stitching for the passenger side above the window was coming a bit loose. No problem, just restitch or glue, right? Go to the store this evening and as the wife opened that door, the window caught the loose part and pulled it loose all the way across the top and down to the corner.

GAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!

I will never get ahead of it, will I?

IMO, if you look at fixing one thing at a time, it will continue to pile up. I dove into everything at once so I could drive it without the pile of issues. It's not cheap, but its worth it if you want to enjoy the car

Well, I tell ya. When I got the car she was pretty much a basket case that ran. I have replaced the brakes, fixed the top frame (now), body work, paint, codes and emissions, belts, new alternator, new tires all the way around..and a damned alignment that I am going to have to do again...lol I have known about the PS being an upcoming problem, so I can't act like I didn't know. Sure hate that between it and the top there goes ANOTHER grand into a car I will never see again. Tis the price we pay for driving something "cool".....

lmao so freaken true. When I bought my z32 it had 122k miles, now it has 128k miles. Between those miles I've spent over 3-4 grand in repairs and it still has problems. And that's just in the first couple of month that I'd had her.

But then again, your only young once. So just enjoy it before you get old.
I keep that in mind when ever I want to get a BFH and smash the f*** s*** out of my car.
