Well, I just totally messed up my car. The timing belt went out and the engine is completely unsalvageable. I think I am ordering a J-spec engine soon possibly with upgraded turbos while the engine is out . I believe the transmission is gone as well and stuff is leaking from the turbos. I guess it was just time to redo everything. The engine did have 145,000 miles on it so I guess it wasn't going to last forever.

sux man, sorry to hear it, the engine will last but you gotta change the timing belt, tensioners and idlers

I have over 200k on mine and raced it today, and it dyno'd 240whp a week ago so if maintained they can last dang near forever

I have never heard of changing the tensioners or idlers, but I did change the timing belt more than once....

the belt only is normal for the first go round at 60k but at 120k it is recomended to replace the tensioner and stud, and at 180k it is suggested to replace the idlers and their studs, I had 200k of unknown history so I replaced it all (the belt actually looked recent) and one of the idlers was grinding and the other just had a small amount of resistance, I was glad I had bought them when I did the teardown, I was a bit easy on it till I replaced the belt and hardware, now I beat the crap out of it without fear
