The other day while waiting on a ramp to merge into the highway, a kid driving his mom's toyota 4runner rear ended me :tisk:

was already told by insurance that they will total the car and have offered me 6k for it. This sucks a**...

Not sure how hard it would be to repair that damage.. it doesn't look bad at all.

Perhaps you can negotiate keep the car. They will want to reduce it the salvage value, but that should only be $1000 or less.

Ah... that sucks. Does sound like more than I thought from the pics.

If your going to get another Z, it would be a great parts car I would assume.

Here's my suggestion as I went through this same thing the beginning of this year. If you have your Z anywhere close to perfect for your tastes I would suggest keeping it and buying a shell with a clean title that hasn't been wreaked and swap LITERALLY everything from your old car to the new shell except damaged pieces. As long as you do it yourself it wont be real expensive and you can go over every part with a fine tooth comb to check on it's health. It's also a great time to do any upgrades or mods that you had been waiting on. It's hard and tedious but worth it in the end. I bought my shell for $1500 and the paint is better than my old car and no bent frame or any of that muff. If you can't do the work yourself then labor will slaughter you at a shop at $80 a hour or more. So I would take the money and run if you can't do it yourself. I swapped every interior piece, power train part, suspension, electronics and did 120k maintenance in my driveway in about two weeks total. I also wasn't working at the time, only taking 12 hours of college courses that were easy and didn't have a lot of other responsibilities at the time.

Hope that helps. It sucked but my car was the closest to perfect it's ever been once I got done. Good luck and I'm sorry to hear that happened to your ride.

+1 to the above, unless you can find a guy who can get the body panels worked out for you for less than the going rate and then a cheap but solid paint job.
With any luck you could get a '94/'95 with the upgraded injectors and sim mileage and come out of it with that little bonus in the end...all based of course on you doing most or all of the swap-over work and finding the correct replacement with what notoriously cheapo-payoff insurance companies give you.
Sad to see this happen to your Z, good luck with everything!

I would only have to remove the exhaust, suspension and jspec replica.
My z was pretty much stock other than that. I have my eye on a 1995 red 2 seater right now but im still waiting from to hear from the adjuster about the price of keeping my Z.
By the way...anyone has stock strut mounts and stock springs laying around and willing to sell? I might put my Z back to stock suspension and just let them take it.

Mine was rear ended as we'll. got it looked at. And you can't even tell I was hit. Drives straight . Minor bent frame. Fixing soon but not major. Hatch don't release well but when back from shop. It will all be fine. 900.00 estimate. Look around take your time.
