I saw an RB26-powered Z race a Silvia with a carb-turboed L, the L whooped him bad. Oh sweet irony:pface

The L powered Silvia beat the RB26 Z? Did the RB have a turbo?

of course, an R32 GTR engine. A certain engine does not guarantee victory. I have beet RB20DET-powered Skylines with a CA18DE Silvia(I did not forget the T). I have beat L3.1 stroker motored 240Zs with a rustbucket FJ20DET Skyline using a hose clamp as a fuel pressure regulator. I have beat 1JZ-powered Mark IIs and a corvette with a bone stock L20ET Skyline. I have yet to be whooped by an on-paper inferior engine but I'm sure there is a car out there who is going to hurt my feelings:)

The Silvia is sick, he hammers GTRs under 600hp and keeps up with an RB26-powered Silvia built by the same shop. The RB car does 10s at Sendai so this ain't your mamma's L. He came up on me at a light one night and I told him "oh hell no"!

Nice.

I've seen a NAPSZ 510 put a SERIOUS whooping on a Mustang 5.0, a ZR1 and built Mopar Hemi 'Cuda. When it's all done and said the driver, and what connects the power to the pavement mean ALOT.

I agree. Most green guys think a dyno chart assures victory but there are so many variables that contribute to a time slip. That's why we keep racing:D
