So I'm getting ready to do my HR swap into my 78' 280Z.
My plan was this:
Pull old engine and associated crap.
Mock up new mounts and fit Engine/wiring/etc., get started...
Pull engine/transmission.
Tear down body and interior, pull glass and trim, dash etc. Pull suspension.
Build and put on Rotisserie
Remove most loose parts and look for bad sheetmetal that needs replaced/replace. Remove doors / hatch
Take body/doors for Media blasting.
Prep Body for paint, shave rear, setup brackets for 240z bumpers. reseal frame seams. Por15 underbody.
Rhino line underbody.
Setup suspension with new energy bushings/rubber
Reinstall Suspension.
Send for/Get painted.
Install new interior sans dash
Reinstall VQHR engine/transmission
Install Dash w/ new gauges et all,
install glass.
Get Exhaust worked out.
That's basically the order I was planning to do things. Since I know to swap in things I'm going to be doing some cutting, grinding and welding. I wouldn't want to muck up a brand new paint job while I worked out the kinks. Listing things like this really makes it sound like a massive amount of work. but hopefully it'll go quickly.
I guess I'm just wondering if fitting things before doing all the body work is really going to be worth it.
