March,

Like Darius said, you can either get it rebuilt, or take it with you to your local shop (AutoZone, NAPA, etc) and check it against a 93-94 Probe GT. Or you could swap it with a 93-94 Nissan Quest 110 Amp (as opposed to the 85 or so stock !

PS long time, no talk!

thanks alot guys. my buddy and i were looking at it on a program and it said it was putting out like 12v and i guess its suposed to put out like 14? but i think i am gonna take it into a shop and get it tested before i do anything. if it is bad i may try and do the 300Z thing (as my buddy has a few layin around his house) , and see if it will actually work or not. ill get back to you guys on that, though it may not be for a few weeks. anyways, thanks again for the info.

lonestar, give me a call sometime and update me on your car bro .

Just go with the Quest alternator...pretty easy to install and solved quite a few problems with my car.

Well for the price of the Quest alternator you could buy The RB Reman one from Top Hat that requires no modification to it. 169.00 Quest vs 150 Tophat.. Man do you know what i could do with 20 extra dollars. Thats gas money. almost a full tank.

this is the closed box mindset, sure you can buy a new bolt on alternator for 150$ but then its still only 80 amps and with all the electrics and efans that the rb swap dictates that 80 amp alternator even freshened up will be struggling.if you're gonna get a new alternator just upgrade, its not hard to modify the bracket and it will only help in the long run.
