what transmissions interchange with a Z-24? Ive read all over and havent found an answer. Ive heard a 280 Z/ZX turbo or non turbo trans. will bolt up. what modifications will need to be done with the swap? I just need a better gear ratio. can you rebuild the stock for high rpms? what are you running in your 720s as in transmissions? let me know something.

zerothread/442368 The owner of the truck in this vid says he has a 280z tranny.

This is what I know, oh yeah, a ka24 transmission (fs5w71c) will bolt up to a z24, the bellhousing pattern's are the same. There are some variances in the gear ratios with the different fs5w71c's.

you could always swap out the diff... slightly easier

i don't know exactly what your goal is but the diff would be better in my opinion

well right now i run the 3.70... but with smaller tires so its closer to 4.00

i want to swap it out for a 4.68 but we'll see

either way... your gas mileage will go down because you'll need more gas to stay 'at speed' once you get there

i expect the usual loss, but as long as its above 15mpg i think i could live with that.

The tranny I'm running came from an 80-81 A-10 I was told yesterday by datzermike on the 720world forum. He said it bolts up to the J, L and Z series engines.
